Sugata Mitra: Build a school in the cloud. draft

Sugata Mitra: Build a school in the cloud.
I like the way Mr Mitra addressed his first speech with a question to his audience “what is going to be the future of learning?”, so if you have a big presentation it would be a fascinating idea to start it with a question. Then he explained how the concept of the school appeared from the British Empire when it needed to the created bureaucratic administrative machine, they needed many people who must know three things: they must have well-handwritten, able to read, and multiplication in their head.
They must be very identical, even though the empire has gone but the way of producing these people are still on, that’s why the school are outdated, this school system was created in very constructed and valuable way but we don’t need it anymore. I can agree with him halfway here, because in school students must know some certain skills, not relying on the technology. what if something happened to technology one day, the future generation of students don’t know how to calculate for example because they don’t have device to help them to do so, what if the students were in a situation that there is no device or technology around them all the time, what they can do!
On the other hand, I agreed with him about some of the school tools are outdated. Therefore, the school must change in the way that keeps the quality of education of the past and builds new ways to develop and improve education.
In this video, there is too much information if I want to stop in each point I probably need more than ten pages. I will try to be brief with the direct points.
He put a computer next to his office to see what will happen to the student if they left with unknown technology, as a result of his experiment, it is a prove of autonomy learning, but even very talented and smart students they always need a person to assist them somehow, because I strongly believe that nothing happened by itself.
One of effective ways of learning that students can learn from each other’s,
in video when he left students alone with computer, they learned from each other’s, same like you do with us, making us do the project alone or in pairs, and then we share the information with another group to improve our learning, and to see many ways of understanding the same issue. I personally think this is one of the best ways of developing the learning.
A teacher has great rules in encouraging students to solve a case, by asking the students how you did you do that. How you reached your point ….etc.
What I like the most in this video when Mr Mitra said that there is evidence from neuroscience, the reptilian part of our brain, which sits in the centre of our brain, when it threatened, it shuts down everything else, it shuts down the prefrontal cortex, the parts that learn, and it shut all of that down. Punishments and examinations are seen as a threat, which I see it so true. I personally do not like exams; I feel when I have to do exams that half of what I have learned vibrate during the exam time. In my opinion, there are many ways that teacher can know the level of the student without an exam, as I also strongly believe that there is no stupid student, there is just student who is less active, or may not be interested in the certain subject.
this is just draft.... need fixing :)
